PHS's Parziale Wins Regional Tennis Title

Dana Parziale of Pinecrest won the singles title at the Eastern Regional boys' tennis championships held at Terry Sanford on Friday and Saturday.

The Patriot junior, and Mid-Southeastern Conference singles champion, came into the tournament as the No. 1 seed. He defeated No. 2 seed, Julian Walker of Southeast Raleigh, 6-2, 6-1 in Saturday's final.

The doubles were won by Ryan Noble and Andrew Brock of Terry Sanford.

Parziale takes a 35-1 record in singles and doubles competition this season into the state 4-A championship event to be held at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus next Friday and Saturday.

Also competing at the regional from Pinecrest were Eric Parziale and Jordan Dew, the conference doubles champions, the conference runners-up in doubles, Ethan Kavanaugh and Will Harris, and singles runner-up, Will Davis.

The Pinecrest squad of coach Gail Deese defeated Clayton 9-0 last Wednesday in the first round of the state 4-A duals competition. The Patriots (17-1) travel to Terry Sanford (12-0) on Tuesday for a second-round match.
