The Pinecrest girls are scheduled to entertain Garner in a first-round state 4-A playoff soccer match at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Patriots (16-4) are the champions of the Mid-Southeastern Conference. Garner (6-11) is the fifth seed from the Greater Neuse River Conference. The two schools have never met in a girls' soccer match and did not have any common opponents this season.

Pinecrest rolled through league play with a 14-0 record. First-year coach Todd Abbey's squad out-scored all opponents 121-14 and recorded a dozen shutouts. The leading goal scorers were Lauren Corrigan (21), Bailey Pages (18), Lyndsey Anderson (16), Kate Hieronymus (13) and Antonia Meyers (11). Pages (12), Anderson (9), Hieronymus (8), Meyers (eight) and Rachel Dokich (seven) are the assist leaders.

Garner scored 31 goals and allowed 34 this season. The champion of the Greater Neuse River Conference was Holly Springs. A win by Pinecrest will put it in a second-round match at home against either J.H. Rose or South View on Friday or Saturday.
