POLICE BRIEFS: Break-In at Rockingham Pharmacy Leads to Drug Arrests

A search of a house near Pinehurst Friday resulted in the seizure of $42,000 worth of drugs believed stolen from a pharmacy in Rockingham.
Guy Michael Smith, 30, of 157 Fox Road, of Rockingham, faces multiple charges as a result of the search of a residence at 146 West Bay Lane in Pinehurst, according to a press release.
During the search, officers found 4,157 pills, including Percocet, Lorcet, Lortab, Endocet, Vicodin, methadone, oxycodone and other controlled prescription pills; eight grams of marijuana; $1,150 and items of drug paraphernalia.
Rockingham police, who were investigating a case in reference to a breaking, entering and larceny that happened at Sandhills Pharmacy in Rockingham, and the Moore County Sheriff's Office narcotics unit and criminal investigation division were involved in the search.
Smith has been charged with two counts of felony trafficking in opium, six counts of felony possession with intent to sell, manufacture, or deliver a schedule II controlled substance, five counts of felony possession with intent to sell, manufacture, or deliver a schedule III controlled substance, three counts of felony possession with intent to sell, manufacture, or deliver a schedule IV controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Smith's bail was set at $100,000.
Purse Stolen: An alert witness helped Southern Pines police nab a Jackson Springs man who had allegedly taken a purse from a car located in a parking lot.
Marcus Antonio Pratt, 19, was arrested Wednesday after the witness reported the purse-snatching. According to a press release from the Southern Pines Police Department, the purse was stolen from the front seat of an unlocked car that also had a window open.
Pratt faces charges of larceny, breaking and entering a motor vehicle and possessing stolen goods. His bail was set at $10,000.
Drug Arrest: A search of a Carthage residence last week resulted in a woman being arrested on drug charges.
Emily Anne Davis, 31, of 2560 Camp Easter Road, was arrested after officers of the Moore County Sheriff's Office narcotics unit and the Division of Community Corrections found several different prescription drugs, cocaine residue, blank prescriptions and items of drug paraphernalia. The officers seized 64 hydrocodone pills, two Alvinza pills and 60 other various pills, according to a press release. Also seized was $362.
Davis is charged with felony trafficking in opium, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule III controlled substance, felony maintaining a dwelling to keep controlled substance, felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Her bail was set at $20,000.
