SANDHILLS BEST BETS: SK8Fest Tomorrow At Pinebluff Park

The third annual Marquez Family SK8Fest will take place from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at SkateMoore Skate Park of Pinebluff.

"Everyone skates free," says a spokesman.

There will be contests, giveaways, pancakes for breakfast, hot dogs for lunch, and pasta from Caterino's Bakery for dinner.

"Come out and see the great improvements and join Skaters for Moore skaters, their families and friends," says the spokesman.

Food and drinks will be sold all day on site.

The skate park is located just south of Pinebluff on U.S. 1. Donations accepted. All proceeds go to Skaters for Moore, a nonprofit organization.

'Master Class'

Moore OnStage presents Terrence McNally's award-winning play, "Master Class," at the Sunrise Theater in downtown Southern Pines at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 29.

'Moonlight and Magnolias'

Temple Theatre's production of "Moonlight and Magnolias" continues through Sunday, March 29, at the theater located at 120 Carthage Street, in downtown Sanford.

The play recounts the experiences of Ben Hecht, David O. Selznick and Victor Fleming as they hash out the screenplay for "Gone With the Wind." (See review at www.thepilot.com)

Pancake Breakfast

The Vass Lions Club will hold a pancake breakfast from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at the Vass-Lakeview Elementary School.

"For $6, you can have all you can eat of pancakes, sausage, coffee, juice and water," says a spokesman.

Tickets are available at the door. Baked goods, brooms, and crafts by the Woodlake Crafters will be available for sale.

Proceeds will go to support Vass Lions Club Community projects

Spaghetti Dinner

A spaghetti dinner to raise funds for the Thrivent for Habitat Home build in Aberdeen will be held Friday, March 27, at St. James Lutheran Church, Southern Pines.

The meal begins at 6 p.m. The cost is $6 at the door.

The church is located at 983 W. New Hampshire Avenue, Southern Pines.

Literary Luncheon

The Friends of Given Memorial Library and Tufts Archives present Joanna Catherine Scott, a North Carolina author, who will be featured at this year's Literary Luncheon Saturday, March 28, at noon in the Member's Club at Pinehurst Country Club.
