Two Face Charges in Break-In

Moore County sheriff's deputies have arrested two men in connection with the break-in of a residence in the Southern Pines area.

Vincent McRae, 21, of 145 Gaines St. in Aberdeen; and Alfreato Bass, 27, of 330 South Stephens St. in Southern Pines, were arrested by investigators Monday and charged with the break-in that occurred on Feb. 18, according to a press release.

Both were charged with breaking and entering, larceny, possession of stolen goods and larceny of a firearm. McRae's bail was set at $2,500. Bail was set at $5,000 for Bass.

BREAK-IN -- The Wachovia bank located on South Broad Street in Southern Pines was broken into some time after closing Monday.

The bank was forcibly entered, said Lt. Rodney Hardy of the Southern Pines police. The investigation is still under way, and no other details were available.

COUNTERFEIT -- Southern Pines police have arrested a Raeford woman accused of passing counterfeit money.

Loretta Ann White, 43, was charged with passing substitute money and possession of a controlled substance. Her bail was set at $1,000.

The Southern Pines Police Department is warning people to be on the lookout for counterfeit money, particularly $100 bills bearing the same serial numbers: SN # AB 53627440 C Series 1996.
