The Southern Pines Recreation and Parks Department announces news of interest to senior adults.

Golfers 55 and over are encouraged to enter the 26th Senior Games in the Pines.

"For $40 you will earn the chance to play a round of golf at the beautiful Beacon Ridge Country Club plus lunch," says a spokesman. The date for golf is Tuesday, April 28, starting at 10 a.m. Medals will be given to those with the best scores.

"Have you been to the zoo lately?" asks the spokesman. "If you haven't, then ride along with the Southern Pines Recreation and Parks Department's senior division to Asheboro, to enjoy the North Carolina Zoological Park."

After the tour, lunch will be at the K&W Cafeteria. The cost is $16 for residents and $32 for nonresidents.

"We depart from the Campbell House Wednesday, April 22, at 8 a.m. and will return at 2 p.m.," says the spokesman.
