Is Pinehurst Afraid?

It's Sunday, March 15. It's cold and raining, and I just picked up The Pilot's Opinion section. I noticed very prominently that Anne B. Wright wrote a short letter headlined "Quiet Majority Favor Pinewild Annexation."

If Wright was referring to the vote taken a few years ago to delay annexation, she was right about her use of the word "majority." My wife and I held our noses and voted for it at the time because it wasn't binding and it bought time to prepare an even better defense for this annexation travesty.

There has been so much talk lately about Pinewild's "silent" and "quiet" majority. Here's a great idea. Why doesn't the village take a vote on Pinewild's thoughts on annexation? If the village is so sure that a "majority" of Pinewild want annexation, then let us vote. Let's settle the question once and for all.

What do you think, village? Afraid of the answer?
