Hansbrough to Play in Moore County
Can't get tickets to the NCAA tournament, but still want to see your favorite seniors basketball players from North Carolina and Duke play one more time?
North Carolina basketball standouts Tyler Hansbrough, Danny Green, and Bobby Frasor along with Duke stars Greg Paulus and David McClure will headline the 2009 Carolina Barnstroming Tour that will play at 7:30 p.m. April 20 at Union Pines High School.
The team of senior basketball players from Duke and UNC will take on a team of Moore County all-stars. The event is a charity fund-raiser with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Moore Magic AAU basketball team.
An autograph session will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. There also will be a three-point shooting contest and a dunk contest.
Scheduled to compete in the game and the dunk contest is Antwan Scott, a former Wake Forest Demon Deacon and Harlem Globetrotter.
Merchandise and t-shirts will be available for sale before the autograph sessions as well as throughout the game.
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at Union Pines High School, the Barber Shop in Aberdeen or at Carolina First Aid and Safety in Carthage. Tickets for the game are $12. A limited number of VIP tickets will be sold for $25. VIP tickets included admission to a private reception for the players after the game, complimentary refreshments and reserved seating behind the bench.
An autographed life-size cardboard cutout of Hansbrough will be raffled off at halftime of the game. Tickets for the raffle are $1 and can be purchased only at the game.
The Carolina Barnstorming Tour will also play at the Greensboro Coliseum and Special Events Center (April 10), Charlotte's Providence High School (April 17), New Hanover High School in Wilmington (April 21) and Fayetteville's Crown Center Arena (April 22).
