A Biscoe woman was seriously injured Thursday night in a two-car accident on U.S. 1 in Southern Pines.
A car driven by Sylvia Lynthacum was traveling north in the right lane of U.S. 1 when she unexpectedly turned into the path of another vehicle driven by Jonathan Rowe, of Vass, who was traveling in the left lane.
Rowe's vehicle struck Lynthacum's car broadside, and it rolled at least one time before coming to rest upright in the left lane, according to the Southern Pines Police Depart-ment.
Lynthacum was partially ejected from the vehicle. She was airlifted by helicopter to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. A condition report was unavailable.
Rowe was not injured, but a passenger in his vehicle was taken to Moore Regional Hospital.
The accident happened about 7:08 near The Lob Steer Inn.
