Kiwanis Golf Tournament Set for September
The Kiwanis Club of Fayetteville will sponsor a Captain's Choice Golf Tournament on Sept. 17, at Cypress Lakes Golf Course with proceeds benefiting the Child Advocacy Center.
Check-in time is 11:30 a.m. to noon, followed by opening ceremonies. Play begins at 1 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded for a variety of scores including teams finishing in first, middle and last places.
Individuals and teams are welcome.
Registration is $100 for individual golfers or $350 for teams of four. Hole sponsorships are available for $100 each or $450 for a team of players with one hole sponsorship.

Sandhills Celtic Soccer Leagues
Sandhills Celtic Soccer League is holding registration for fall and spring recreation leagues until July 15.
Recreational soccer programs for kids ages 3 and older are offered, including a new Mini-Kicker program for 3-year-olds.

Adult Church Softball League
Moore County Parks and Recreation is organizing an adult church softball league to begin play in August.
A coaches' organizational meeting will be held at 6 p.m. July 9 at the picnic shelter at Hillcrest Park.
Coaches should bring a $100 team deposit to this meeting to hold a spot in the league.
The total entry fee for the league is $550 and must be paid in full by 5 p.m. June 24.
The league will play ASA Softball rules.
Games will be played on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Teams wishing to enter a team must pay their entry fees by the deadline.

PHS Volleyball Camp
Registrations are under way for two volleyball camps directed by Pinecrest High School coach Barbara Foxx.
The Pinecrest Youth Volleyball Camp for ages five through 12 will be held at the school gym on June 28 through July 2. There will be morning sessions from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and afternoon sessions from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The cost for the morning sessions is $30 per person. The cost to attend both sessions is $60.
The camp staff will focus on individual skills in the morning. The afternoon session will emphasize combination drills, transition drills and league play.
Camp participants will receive personal attention to help them develop and improve fundamentals as well as tips to become more effective team contributors.
A second camp for middle school and high school students will be held on July 13 through 16. There will also be morning (9-11:30 a.m.) and afternoon (2-5 p.m.) sessions.
The cost is $45 for the morning and $100 for all day.
All camp participants will need to bring gym shoes, knee pads, white socks, a T-shirt, towel and water bottle.
Foxx has helped lead teams to 14 conference championships, two undefeated seasons, two state championships and over 500 wins in 30 years as the coach at Pinecrest.
Patriot players have gone on to play college volleyball at Arizona, Fayetteville State, NC A & T, N.C. Central, UNC-Charlotte, UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC-Greensboro, UNC-Pembroke, Lenoir-Rhyne, Shaw and Wingate.

Girls' Volleyball Camp
Summer volleyball camps for girls in grades 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12 will be held at the end of June and into July at FirstHealth Center for Health and Fitness.
Camp for girls in grades 3-5 will be June 29 to July 1. Camp from girls in grades 6 to 8 will be July 13-18 or Aug. 10-13. Camp for high school students will be July 20-23.
All camps are from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and space is limited. Cost is $60 for FirstHealth members and $75 for non-members.
The camp will focus on serving, setting, passing and hitting.
The high school clinic is for those who play on club or high school teams and will focus on the basic four skills along with higher level techniques, game situation drills and team cohesiveness.
Camp instructor is Tabitha Crider, a former Division I volleyball player at Penn State University with eight years coaching experience.

American Legion Fundraiser
The American Legion Post 72 in Aberdeen, located on East Main, will hold its annual BBQ plate sale from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 2. Cost is a $7 donation.
The American Legion No. 76 car along with its driver and crew will be there.
Also available now and on that day are raffle tickets for "dinner for two for a week."
Tickets are $5 with the drawing to be held at 6 p.m. July 2.
Supporting restaurants are Beefeater's, El Vaquero, Lob Steer Inn, Mt. Fuji, Outback, Ragazzi's and Shuckers Oyster Bar and Grill.
Running Camp
Reebok's Mountain High Running Camp will be held in Mars Hill July 13 -18.
Middle and high school cross country camp features great trails, free Reebok shoes and a staff of elite U.S. and Kenyan runners and coaches.
