Lila Hopkins, of Fuquay-Varina, received a coveted award for her novel "The Master Craftsman."

The Book of the Year Award in Family Drama was presented by High Country Writers' Club in Boone Wednesday, June 10.

This is Hopkins' third award from this prestigious group of writers. Her first two novels, "Weave Me A Song" and "Strike a Golden Chord" also won the book-of-the-year awards. All the books were published by Ingalls Publishing in Boone.

Hopkins will appear in the Authors' Series sponsored by Interact of Wake County on June 25 at Pass It On store in Fuquay-Varina and in Raleigh at the Interact headquarters on July 21. Both activities are from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

"The Master Craftsman" is a heartwarming novel of father-son relationships and the incredible gift of love. It is set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina and like Hopkins' other novels, it tells the story from a Christian perspective.

Hopkins made her home in Moore County for many years.
