Rebecca "Becky" Ross, of Rockingham, was crowned Ms. N.C. Senior America 2009, Friday, June 5. She will compete in the national pageant to be held at Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City, N.J., Oct. 4-8.

Shirley Jones-Byrd, of Thomasville was first runner-up; Ida Lee Brinkley, also of Thomasville was second runner-up. Carole Wunderlin, of Pinehurst and Ross shared the Ms. Congeniality Award.

Other candidates in the pageant were Patricia Stewart, Fayetteville; Lu Grayson, Thomasville, and Anne Kirkley, Hamlet.
