The Shag is the official popular dance for the State of North Carolina.

On Saturday, June 20, a Shag Party fundraiser will be held at the Pinehurst Fair Barn, featuring the area's favorite Shag musical group, The Sand Band, to benefit the North Carolina Special Olympics, sponsored by the Pinehurst Police Department.

Tickets are available at the Pinehurst Police Department and will also be available at the door. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. White Rabbit will cater a hamburger and hot dog meal. The cost for the evening is only $20 per person.

"Where can you find such a quality fun evening, so inexpensively, for such a worthwhile cause?" asks a spokesman. "Round up a group of your friends, put on your Weejuns and dance the night away. Let the Pinehurst Police Department save you a trip to the beach."
