The United States Golf Association and Pinehurst Resort made it official Monday morning, announcing that the 2014 U.S. Open and the U.S. Women's Open will played on back-to-back weekends on the resort's renowned No. 2 Course.

The men's Open will be played June 12-15, with the Women's Open following June 19-22.

The Donald Ross-designed No. 2 Course will become the first to host all five of the USGA's championships, the Men's Open, the Women's Open, the U.S. Senior Open, the U.S. Amateur and the U.S. Women's Amateur.

Pinehurst No. 2 has hosted nine USGA championships since 1962, the latest of which was the 2008 U.S. Amateur won by Danny Lee.

"This doubleheader, staged at one of the sport's most storied golf courses, promises to provide a promotion to women's championship golf like anything we've ever seen," said USGA Executive Director David Fay.
