West End High School's Class of 1959 celebrated its 50th class reunion, Saturday, June 6, at the Eagle Springs Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

The welcome was extended by Carolyn Thomas Allen and the invocation was given by Floyd Thomas.

A moment of silent prayer was given in memory of two deceased class members, Carol Faith Blake (Pusser) and Norma Jean Hill (Lawson). Dorothy Furr Melton read a poem, "Remembering Our Friends." Pictures of the two classmates were displayed on a table covered in purple and gold tablecloths, the school colors through the 11th grade.

The tables were decorated with class colors of light blue and white and a vase of red and white carnations, the class flowers, was used as a center piece. The dessert table was decorated in red and white, the school colors in senior year.

"Our thanks to Larry and Dayle Pusser, who served our delicious meal of grilled chicken breast, roast beef and gravy, mashed potatoes, string beans, apples, slaw, baked beans, coconut cake, lemon pound cake, lemon and pecan pies and drinks," says a spokesman.

Picture taking was the order of the evening as flashes went off and cameras zoomed in on everyone. A video, made by Carolyn Thomas Allen, titled "Memories of West End High School Class of 1959 -- Celebrating 50 Years," played as members mingled. All class members, grade parents and teachers were given copies of the video.

A picture of the West End High School, drawn by Cathy McKenzie, was on display. Joyce Martin Savage brought pictures of old school days, which were enjoyed by everyone.
