S.P. Man Faces Several Drug Charges

A Southern Pines man faces several felony drug charges after a search of a residence last Thursday yielded 160 grams of marijuana and a stolen 9 mm handgun, according to a press release.

Eddie Lee Whitehead Jr., 25, of 919 Richards Street, Southern Pines, was arrested by officers of the Moore County Sheriff's Office narcotics unit and select enforcement unit after they executed a search warrant at his residence. In addition to the marijuana and handgun, two dosages of MDMA (Exstasy), $1,656 and items of drug paraphernalia were seized.

Assisting in the operation was the Southern Pines Police Department.

Whitehead was charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule III controlled substance, felony possession of a stolen firearm, felony maintaining a dwelling to keep controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of a Schedule III controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was jailed and his bail set at $150,000.
