Members of the League of Women Voters of Moore County and the public are invited to attend the annual meeting of the League Tuesday, June 16.

The luncheon and meeting will be held at the Table on the Green Restaurant, in Midland Country Club (off Midland Road, Pinehurst). Check-in time is 11:30 a.m., and the luncheon starts at 11:45.

After the luncheon, the annual meeting will start, presided over by Jo Nicholas, local League president. The League members will review the treasurer's report and discuss and vote on the budget. The Local Program and Studies to be presented to the membership for their final approval are: 1. Redistricting Study Implementation, 2. Recommendations from the Poverty Study, 3. Continue Environmental Outreach, 4. Begin a Study examining Health Care in Moore County and 5. Continue Voters Service activities, such as candidate forums and voter registration opportunities. League members will also vote on a proposed change to their local by-laws.

The election of new officers will take place. In the Moore County League, the following people are running for an office: Sandra Wright, second vice president; Ginger Finney, treasurer; Charlotte Gallagher, nominating committee chair; and Ed. Dennison, Dot Lawless and Ann Torok, all board directors; and Joan Zamaroni, nominating committee chair. The terms of the positions are two years. The League members will vote on the proposed slate of League officers.

A prior reservation is required to attend; interested people may call Charlotte Gallagher at 944-9611 at least by June 12 to make a reservation. The total cost for the luncheon is $12, payable by check to LWVMC.
