SCORE Seminar to Focus on Accounting

The Sandhills Chapter of SCORE (Counselors to America's Small Business) continues its free "Business Basics" seminar series on Wednesday, June 10, with one on accounting..

The seminar begins at 6 p.m. in room 103 in Van Dusen Hall on the Sandhills Community College campus. SCORE and the Small Business Center of Sandhills Community College jointly sponsor this series of six consecutive seminars. To register, call 695-3938 at the Small Business Center. Registration will also be available beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the day of the seminar.

Effective management of a small business requires a comprehensive understanding of its financial aspects. This informative four-hour seminar features Howard Gartman, an experienced local certified public accountant, who will make the world of accounting easy to understand.

The program will provide valuable insights into the key financial documents vital to every business, a news release said. The purpose is to help participants manage their business much more efficiently knowing how to translate the numbers and look for trends and relationships.

The six seminars in the series are being presented on six consecutive Wednesday evenings to accommodate the intended audience of current and prospective small business owners. SCORE is will reimburse $75 of advertising expense for any business that attends all six seminars.

SCORE is a nationwide nonprofit association of experienced business people who provide free and confidential business counseling to small business owners. The Sandhills chapter is very active in counseling, mentoring and presenting free business seminars.

In addition to counseling by appointment, the Sandhills chapter has members available for drop-in service from 10 a.m. to noon every Tuesday at the Moore County Chamber of Commerce building on U.S. 15-501 in Southern Pines.
