The choir at Elizabeth Chapel Free Will Baptist Church will celebrate its anniversary at 7 p.m. Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The church will hold Vacation Bible School the week of June 22-26.

The Church School convention for the Sanford District of A.M.E. Zion Churches will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church in Sanford.

The board members of the Addor Community Center invite everyone to attend the first-ever "Black-White Banquet" at 7 p.m. July 10 at the Days Inn on U.S. 1 in Southern Pines. Tickets are $25. (Please note the change in the date. It was inncorrect last week.)

New Zion A.M.E. Zion Church will celebrate its 130th anniversary Sunday, June 14. The morning service begins at 11 o'clock, followed by lunch. The afternoon service is at 3 o'clock. The pastor, choir and members of New Endland A.M.E. Zion Church will be the special guests.

The Berkley High School reunion will be held June 26-28. More details will be coming soon.

New Hope Christian Ministries at 704 Harris St., where the pastor is Elder Brenda Brown, holds regular worship services on the first through fourth Sundays of the month at 11 a.m. Sunday School is held at 10 a.m.

St. Ruth United Church of God in West End, where the pastor is Elderess Lillian Kearns, holds worship services on the second and fourth Sundays at 11:30 a.m. A prayer meeting is held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, followed by Bible study at 7 p.m.

Crossroads Church in Southern Pines, where the pastor is Bishop Joseph Quick, will have a pastoral aide service at 8 p.m. this Friday. His 12th pastoral anniversary will be June 18-21 at 8 o'clock nightly with different speakers.

New Church of the Overflow holds its worship service at 5 p.m. each Sunday at Holy Temple. Bishop Ronnie Moore, senior pastor of Kingdom Connections Church International Ministries in Rockingham, will lead the services.

Synagogue of Christ Church in Carthage, where the pastor is Bishop Lynn Kiniel and the assistant pastor is Minister Louise Kiniel, will not hold its worship service this Sunday. Bishop Kiniel will be the guest speaker at Holy Way in Eagle Springs to help celebrate Bishop Lorenzo Purcell's annniversary at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 12. Elizabeth Martin will host a "Fruits of Spirit" program at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at Synagogue. Richard Faulk will sponsor a building fund program at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 14. Minister Mary Ray will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited.

Mount Pleasant Church will recognize its 2009 graduates during the 11 a.m. worship service this Sunday. The graduates will revceive Bibles.

Men's Sunday will be held June 21. The men of the church will fill the choir loft and lead every aspect of the worship service. Special music is planned, and Rick Harrison will be the pianist for the day.

Work is progressing on the fellowship hall.

Through generous giving of the church, Brent Godfrey's mission trip to the Dominican Republic has been secured. Brent and his mother will be leaving next Sunday for a week of mission work, Bible study and a special outreach through the baseball team of Grace Christian Church, where he attends. The church wishes them safe travels.

Vacation Bible School has been set for July 27-31, with the theme this year of "Studio Game Show GO!"

Happy Birthday to Libby Poplin who turns 30 on June 9.

Taylortown

A weeklong summer camp for youth will be held at the Taylor House from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, June 15, through Friday, June 19. Activities include swimming at Boler Park and other recreational games.

The program is sponsored by Moore County 4-H and is free and open to youths ages 6-12 in the community. Teenagers are invited to assist with the younger children. For more information, call Linda Gore, Moore County 4-H coordinator, at 947-3188 or Rose Highland-Sharpe, 4-H adviser, at 295-0013. Jermaine Bright will be the lead camp counselor. Moore County 4-H provides day camps at the Agricultural Center in Carthage and overnight camps at Millstone 4-H Center in Ellerbe. Call Linda Gore at 947-3188 for more information. Scholarships are provided based on need and availability.

The Taylortown Volunteer Fire and Rescue Inc. committee sponsors "Bingo Night" at the Taylor House from 7 until 10 p.m. every Friday. Proceeds benefit the fire and rescue program building. The Rev. David Levine is the coordinator. The fire and rescue committee meets every other Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Taylor House.

The Cub Scouts meet at the Taylor House every Thursday night at 7 p.m. The Rev. Levine is the leader.

The Galilee Gospel Choir will have its anniversary at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, June 13. For more information, call Mary Mason at 295-5477. The pastor, the Rev. Charles Nabors, invites everyone to the program.

God's House of Prayer Ministry holds Sunday School at 10 a.m. every Sunday, and worship services are held at 11 a.m. every first and third Sunday. Bible study is held at 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday. Intercessory prayer is held at 8 a.m. every Saturday. The church is at 205 Pats Road.
