Carl Bruce Munro, 73, of Foxfire Village, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at his home.

Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at his home from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2. Mr. Munro will be interred in Woodlawn Cemetery in his hometown of Wellsville, N.Y.

Mr. Munro served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He graduated from the University of Delaware and worked for the DuPont Company for over 30 years.

In 1992 he and his wife, Helen, moved to Foxfire Village because of his passion for golf and love of community. He was very active in community affairs, serving on the Foxfire Village Council, the Board of the Foxfire Property Owners Association and many Foxfire Days committees. He was also active with the Chamber of Commerce and served on several committees of the Moore County School District. He was a supporter and a member of the Board for the Ruth Pauley Lecture Series. He was an alternate for the Moore County Planning and Zoning Board as well as the Foxfire Board of Adjustments. He and Helen enjoyed 10 years of international travel together.

Mr. Munro is survived by his loving wife, Helen S. Munro; his brother, David C. Munro, of Whitesville N.Y.; his sister, Judith Kimball, of Middletown, Del.; son, Bruce C. Munro and his wife, Fawn, of Flower Mound, Texas; daughter, Jennifer L. Munro, and her husband, Eric Schrock, of Palmdale, Calif., and four grandchildren, Camren, Scott and Kylie Munro and Dana Schrock.

He was preceded in death by his brother, John W. (Jack) Munro, and his brother, Terry D. Munro.
