The Moore County Genealogical Society will host a 25th anniversary open house Saturday, July 18, from 1 to 4 p.m.

The event will be held at the Moore County Agricultural Center, 707 Pinehurst Avenue, Carthage. This is next to Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Presentations will include: how to start your research, information available at the Register of Deeds office and LDS Family History Library, and more.

"There is something for the beginner as well as the experienced genealogist," says a spokesman. "Even if your roots are not in Moore County, there will be something to help you."

There will be show-and-tell items including vintage documents, textiles, occupational items, and more.

All past members are also encouraged to attend, and share any family history books they have compiled. Charter members will also be recognized.

Refreshments will be served, and door prizes will be awarded, including a $50 savings bond donated by First Bank.
