The Moore County Kennel Club will be holding its annual picnic meeting Tuesday, July 7, at Cannon Park in Pinehurst.

The event is at 6 p.m., and members are asked to bring their own drinks a side dish to share.

The park is off U.S. 211 just west of Moore Regional Hospital on Rattlesnake Drive. There is a big pavilion in case of bad weather. Contact Penny for more information on side dishes if desired, at (910) 695-9985.

The AKC Summer Agility Trials were held in June and were a big success. The agility events are getting more and more popular as people discover this fun and challenging sport.

MCKC is presently preparing for its annual All Breed Shows, Obedience and Rally Trials to be held Saturday, Sept. 12, and Sunday, Sept. 13. These shows will be held this year at the Harness Track in Pinehurst. Usually there are about 800 dogs participating in these shows, some of the top dogs in the U.S., with prestigious judges to critique them and present that coveted title and ribbon.

"The club members hope that the general public plans to attend the shows and promise they won't be disappointed," says a spokesman.

Also, there will be the Micro Chip Clinic on the premises and many food and doggie items and informational booths available.

"The club welcomes guests and visitors to come and see what we are all about," says the spokesman. "The picnic is a great time to get to know the members in a fun and casual atmosphere. MCKC is always looking for new members and invites all inquiries about the club, its members, its purpose and many projects. You may also go to the club's Web site which is www.moorecokc.org."
