Colby Virtue received the honor of Eagle Scout on Father's Day, June 21, at Christ Community Church in Pinehurst.

Col. Bill Owen, Colby's former Scoutmaster, made the presentation along with his son John, who is also an Eagle Scout.

Recognized during the "pinning" ceremony were his parents, Chris and Kathy Virtue, of Southern Pines, and his mentor, Gary Seibert, from Ormond Beach, Fla. Many friends and family came to honor Colby as he received his Eagle Scout award.

Virtue's father, Chris, and older brother, Bill, are both Eagle Scouts..

Virtue's Eagle project was a book and Bible drive designed to help families in distress that come to the Raleigh Rescue Mission. He built a bookcase that stands at the welcome area of the children's center where families can get the books and support materials they need.

Colby is a rising junior at The Ravenscroft School in Raleigh, where he is an FCA member and plays lacrosse.
