POLICE BRIEFS: S.P. Police Make Arrests in Robberies

Southern Pines police have charged two men with robbing two businesses on the same night in December.
Christopher Nan Tillman, 34, of Southern Pines, and Marcus Alexander McLaughlin, 35, of West End, were charged with robbing the Microtel Inn at 205 Windstar Place and the Quality Mart at 915 Old U.S. Highway 1 on Dec. 15, according to news release. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun. No one was injured in the robberies.
Tilman was charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, assaulting an officer and resisting arrest. His bail was set at $25,000, the release said.
McLaughlin was charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and larceny for stealing gas from Mac's No. 7 on Morganton Road after the robberies, the release said. His bail was set at $50,000.
Southern Pines has also made an arrest in a robbery that happened in October.
Anthony Bernard Rogers, 19, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and misdemeanor larceny, according to a news release. Police said a second suspect in the case is currently in state prison, but charges have yet to be filed against him, according to a news release. Police did not release his name.
The robbery occurred about 8:40 p.m. Oct. 19 in the 300 block of West Illinois Avenue. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun. No one was injured.
Police arrested Rogers Jan. 26 after he was indicted by the Moore County Grand Jury. The larceny charge is for a shoplifting at Bo's Foods in Southern Pines. He was jailed with bail set at 20,000.
