Mildred Elliott Spivey, 88, of Carthage, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at St. Joseph of the Pines, Southern Pines.
A native of Moore County, she was a daughter of the late James William and Roxie Key Elliott. For many years, she and her husband owned and operated Carthage Food Store.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Carthage United Methodist Church, directed by Fry and Prickett Funeral Home. Burial followed at Lamm's Grove Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors: her husband of 64 years, Walter H. Spivey; a son, Walter H. Spivey Jr., of Southern Pines; a sister, May Rogers, of Southern Pines; a brother, J.W. Elliott Jr., of Carthage; three grandchildren.
