East Carolina pitcher Seth Maness recently picked up his fourth preseason honor when he was named Louisville Slugger third-team All-America by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

The Pinecrest graduate was previously designated second-team All-America by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and was named to the Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award Pre-season Watch List by the College Baseball Foundation.

He was also a Recruiting Closer third-team preseason All-America selection.

Last year Maness had one of the best freshman seasons in Pirate history, posting a 9-2 record with a 3.27 ERA. The right-hander struck out 81 batters and walked only 20 in 98.1 innings pitched.

The son of Michael Maness and Jan Benton was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Year and made the all-conference first team. He became one of the most decorated Pirates in history after being named to seven All-America teams, five of those for freshman.

The Pirates begin spring practice on Feb. 1 in preparation for the season opener against Monmouth on Feb. 20.

Maness compiled a record of 21-2 and earned conference player of the year and all-state honors during his career at Pinecrest.
