Baseball tryouts
Power Alley Baseball will hold open tryouts for a 9 year old USSSA travel baseball team from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 24 at Memorial Field 'A' in Southern Pines. Rain date is Jan. 25.

Woof Woof Open Date Change
The Woof Woof Open, a golf benefit for Pooch Park in the Pines, will be held in June.
Originally scheduled for early February, organizers moved the date due to a forecast of unseasonably cold weather.
The event will be played June 27 at Longleaf and June 28 at The Pit. Shotgun start both days is 8:30 a.m.
Entry fee: $75 per round or $125 for two. Format: Best two balls of four. Teams: men, women and mixed.

Speed and Agility Camp
The Little Patriots 2009 Speed and Agility Clinics will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from Feb. 2 to March 4 at Pinecrest High School.
Cost: $100 for entire clinic, or $10 per session.
The camp is open to all students enrolled in grades 1-8 regardless of sport.
The camp, sponsored by Sandhills Optimist Club, will be run by Pinecrest head football coach Chris Metzger, his staff and guest coaches.
Each student will receive instruction on different phases of athletics including eating habits, study habits, form running, and overall fitness.
Camp attire is T-shirts, shorts, athletic socks and running shoes.
Participants should meet at the John L. Williams Stadium each day and bring plenty of water.

Girls Volleyball Clinic
A two-hour volleyball clinic to address basic serving, passing, setting and hitting skills will be Jan. 31 at FirstHealth Center for Health and Fitness in Pinehurst.
Cost is $25 per camper. the clinic is for students in grades 6-12. Clinic for students in grades 6-8 begins at 9 a.m. Clinic for high school students follows at 11 a.m.
The high school clinic is for experienced players only.
Participants are welcome to bring knee pads and water bottles.
Clinic instructor is Tabitha Crider, head coach of Sandhills CC volleyball team and former Division I college player. For information, call 910-715-1800.
Baseball Meeting
The Sand Gnats baseball group is looking for members for its three teams that compete in the North Carolina men's basketball league.
Teams compete in 21 and older, 32 and older and 42 and older age divisions.

Soccer League Registration
Moore County Parks and Recreation is currently accepting applications for boys and girls ages 5-6 and 7-8 leagues. Ages as of Jan. 1, 2009.
Registration deadline is Feb. 13. Cost: $30.
All soccer sessions will be held at Hillcrest Park starting Saturday, Feb. 28.

Open Gym
The Southern Pines Recreation Center gym is open each Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Now through March 1.
Participants must be at least 16 years old and must have a pass and an ID.
Passes are sold at Southern Pines Recreation Department, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
