Poor shooting doomed the visiting Sandhills Flyers Wednesday night against Vance Granville Community College.

The Flyers (7-12) connected on 36 percent of their shots (27 of 75) in a 103-71 loss to the Vanguards.

"We were very inconsistent in our play and did not execute against their zone defense," Flyer head coach Aaron Denton said.

Germann Bostic led the way for the Flyers, scoring a game-high 23 points, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out five assists. Pinecrest High grad Philip Moultrie added 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Flyers. Brian Thomas returned to action and scored 15 points for SCC.

L.C. Hester led the Vanguards (11-5) with 21 points. He was one of six Vanguard players who scored in double figures.

The Flyers return to action Saturday when they travel to Catawba Valley CC for a 2 p.m. tip-off.
