Local residents that get their television signal from antennas are going to get a warning tonight.

There is a test scheduled tonight at 6:25 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. for the transition from analog TV signals to digital that is scheduled to take place nationwide on Feb. 17.

If a television isn't digital TV ready, the viewer will see a warning message.

A converter box is needed for televisions that are getting there signal from antennas, while users of cable or satellites do not need the box. Currently, there is a lack of coupons provided by the government to help offset the purchase of the box. There has also been a call by President-elect Barack Obama to delay the switch to digital.

Wednesday, Kevin J. Martin the head of the FCC said that he thought it was necessary to go ahead with the switch as scheduled.
