Last week, Upchurch was arrested by Southern Pines police shortly after firing several shots from a handgun into an occupied vehicle parked at M&S Market on West Pennsylvania Avenue. The vehicle was occupied by a woman and her infant child. He was arrested in the area after a foot pursuit.
In the Nov. 2 incident, Upchurch is accused of wielding the shotgun when he robbed Macs #7 Food Store around 10:40 p.m. He also robbed a customer who was in the store that night, resulting in two robbery with a dangerous weapon charges being lodged by police. There were no injuries reported.
The third charge stems from Upchurch allegedly using a handgun in the Kangaroo robbery that happened around 1:20 a.m. He faces his third robbery with a dangerous weapon charge from that case.
