In the Feb. 22 Sunday press was a half-page ad encouraging folks to come to a Marriage Amendment Rally to be held at the legislative building on March 3. It is encouraging to see that there are those who believe in family values enough to do something constructive about it.

Since the '60s, there has been a growing hostility toward values clearly delineated in Scripture. "Political correctness" has come to mean about any view, as long as it is not Christian. Muslims receive more support for their views and practice by our government than Bible-believing preachers.

This trend is not going to change as long as people view government as a self-existing system of authority that American citizens are subject to. Whatever happened to basic education in U.S. history?

Have people forgotten what " of, by, and for the people" means! We are the government. We are the ones who are responsible for the kind of laws we tolerate. We are the ones who are to decide what values will be reflected by force of law.

An overwhelming majority of people across America believe in traditional family values, fiscal responsibility and accountability, and the Second Amendment. It is time for Americans to take back government responsibility before our way of life disappears from the earth.

I attended this rally last year and saw an estimated attendance of over 10,000 people (Raleigh police department count) from across the state. My understanding is that over 20,000 are expected on March 3. This is representative government coming back -- a welcomed sight.
