New Carts: Oceanico continues to live up to its promises to upgrade Little River Golf and Resort, adding a new fleet of E-Z-Go golf carts.
This continues the upgrades to Little River following a $500,000 golf course renovation to improve overall course conditions and enhance the guest experience in the summer 2008.
"Oceanico is very excited about continuing to elevate the overall experience at Little River," said Terry Schieber, a representative of the parent company. "We think this is part of the continuous beginning of the new Little River as we will be announcing our development plans in the upcoming months. This, coupled with the golf course improvement, will ensure that Little River becomes a world-class destination."
Little River Golf and Resort is the first U.S. resort purchased by Oceanico Group USA Inc., a subsidiary of Oceanico Group, the leading developer of golf and leisure resorts in Portugal, where it is headquartered.
The planned development will include various real estate offerings and community amenities, to ensure guests and residents will enjoy one of the most desirable golf course communities in the Sandhills. The property currently features a 20,000-square-foot clubhouse, which includes a reception area, full-service restaurant and bar, golf shop, locker rooms, and an outside dining area with wrap-around porches.
The resort also offers 64 two-bedroom condos, available through a rental pool, and 8,000 square feet of banquet and conference space.
Little River, set among 630 acres of rolling hills with elevation changes of nearly 200 feet, and tree-lined fairways, was designed by course architect Dan Maples in 1996.
Maples, who lives in Carthage, was born just miles from the Little River Golf and Resort and his personal interest brought a dedication to the project that no other architect could have offered.
Jones Juniors: The Robert Trent Jones Junior Championship will be held March 14-15 at Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford.
