The Pinehurst Conservation Commission invites Sandhills residents to a free workshop on Saturday, Feb. 28 from 10:30 a.m.-noon in the Pinehurst Village Hall, 395 Magnolia Road. The workshop, "Hindering Hoodlums and Helping Heroes -- Understanding Insects in Your Garden," will be presented by Taylor Williams, agricultural agent, NC Cooperative Extension. This is the first of two workshops to guide homeowners in their efforts to manage insects and animals in their gardens. The next workshop in March will focus on animal control.

Visitors to the area can indulge their botanical interest while enjoying an enriching stroll through the 32-acre Sandhills Horticultural Gardens on the campus of Sandhills Community College.
