Gardeners to Speak During Expo Friday

Members of the Moore County Master Gardener volunteers will speaking on plant propagation, edible landscaping, container gardening and more Friday, Feb. 27, at the Fair Barn in Pinehurst, during the Moore County Home Builders Association's Spring Home and Garden Exposition.
Five timely topics will be explored from noon to 5 p.m. that day.
Noon, Container Gardening with Flowers and Herbs, Linda Hamwi. Handy for those with patios and small spaces or desiring an accent, attractive and easy planters might be just the trick.
1 p.m., Preparing the Garden for Spring, Shawna Smith. Learn what to do right now to get your garden looking its best, come summer.
2 p.m. Plant Propagation, Larry and Barbara Cohen. Many common and beloved plants can be propagated at home with attention to some simple principles.
3 p.m. Edible Landscaping, Jan Leitschuh. Edible landscapes can be just as attractive as purely ornamental landscapes, yet produce fresh fruits and vegetables for home use. Learn how to incorporate simple elements into existing yards and gardens.
4 p.m. Gardens, the Path to Healthy Eating, Kathy Byron. "If they grow it, they will eat it." Learn how Byron uses school gardens as a teaching tool for nutrition. She will share some of her easiest tips for using fresh, healthy produce.
The Moore County Home Builders Association Spring Home and Garden Exposition will be held at The Fair Barn in Pinehurst Friday, Feb. 27, Saturday, Feb. 28, and Sunday, March 1.
