The North Moore Mustangs lost to West Montgomery, 59-48, in the first round of the Yadkin Valley Conference tournament Tuesday.

The girls basketball team ended its run in the conference tourney Thursday with a loss to Thomasville.

Tuesday, senior forward Rashad Brower led the Mustangs with 11 points.

Mustang head coach Grant Smith attributed some of his team's struggles to foul trouble.

"Foul trouble was a factor tonight," Smith said. "We did not shoot well from the foul line and that really hurt us," he added.

The Mustangs made 3 of their 8 free throw attempts, where the Warriors hit 12 of their 24 attempts. Ten of those makes came on 13 attempts in the fourth quarter.

Leading 36-33 entering the final quarter, the Mustangs were outscored 25-12.

"We played hard tonight," Mustang senior guard Jonathan Person. "We just slacked off in the fourth quarter and did not make our free throws," he added. The Mustangs finished the regular season out with (7-16) overall and are (3-9) in the Yadkin Valley Conference.

"We have struggled all year," Smith said. "We had a great opportunity to win this game tonight. The Warriors brought the pressure tonight and there were too many inconsistencies on our part."
