Hole-In-One: Joyce Reitler, a member of Whispering Pines, scored her first hole-in-one Feb. 19 on the 109-yard eighth hole, using her 8-iron. Her playing partners were Shirley Sherrill, Sharon Mathias and Ginny Piper. Joyce says she always plays a pink ball and gets teased about it -- but no one should tease her about it now that she scored an ace with it.

Pinewild: The Men's Golf Association played a team and individual match on the Magnolia Course, using one best ball on even holes and two best balls on odd holes for scoring.

Individual winners were:

Flight 1 -- Gross: Bernie Schultz, 77; Spike Billings, 81. Net: Mike Tencza, 70; Johann Rudzitis, 70.

Flight 2 -- Gross: Keith Junk, 84; George Watterworth, 86. Net: Pete Nehlsen, 71; Lee D'Onle. 72.

Flight 3 -- Gross: Pat Mastandrea, 86; Art Lannon, 88. Net: Dick Mack, 70; J. C. Norman, 71.

Flight 4 -- Gross: Jim O'Brien, 94; Jan Garber, 95. Net: Larry Roche, 71; Dave Bigler, 71.

Closest to the pin winners were Jim Young on 3, Keith Junk on 12, Bill Caso on 7 and Gene Casnellie on 15.

Pinehurst: The Women's Golf Association played a "Trash Can" tournament, with two best balls needed on all holes, but after play was completed, one hole on the front nine and one on the back nine were thrown out for scoring. Maggie Sanger won low gross with 85.

Midland: The Sandblasters played Feb. 3 in a captain's choice contest. The winners were Ed Campbell, Kick Kelly, Maury Finnegan and a blind draw, 34; Ron Flock, Jack Henderson, Dick Madeira and Dick Heilman, 35; and Harvey Koonce, Bob Mellinger, Joe Reilly and a blind draw, 38.

The Sandblasters played Feb. 17 in a contest using one best ball of the foursome. The winners were Ed Campbell, Paul Cottam, Jack Henderson and Dick Heilman, 24; Ron Flock, Bob Edwards, Bill Bradley and Pete Feeney, 26; and Steve Zachary, Jim Burrell, Dick Kelly and Clark Russell, 27.

John Mannion won low gross with 41. Bill Bradley and Paul Cottom tied for low net with 32. Birdies were recorded by Bill Bradley on 1, Steve Zachary on 6 and Jack Henderson on 9. Ron Flock won closest to the pin.

Midland: The Ladies Golf Association played Feb. 12 in a low net game. The 18-hole winners were Joanne Rabdau, 67, and Dee Hancock, 74.

The nine-hole winners were:

Flight 1 -- Alberta Settzo, 36; Carolyn Crenson and Linda Parke tied at 44.

Flight 2 -- Doris Hoffman and Peg Baran tied at 38.

Joanne Rabdau chipped in on 10, Gerda Pittinger on 5, Terry Zeterberg on 7 and Alberta Zetto on 2.

Whispering Pines: The Wanderers, a traveling group, played at Southern Pines Country Club on Feb. 19. The format was a two-man best ball of the team. The winners were:

Flight 1 -- Chuck Daley and Ron Hendrick, 66 by a MOC over Dean Donley and Tom Stevens. Chuck Daley won low gross with 79, and Wendell Brande won low net with 71.

Flight 2 -- Joe Ryan and George Venet, 63; Bill Hobbs and Ray Blacklock, 64. George Venet won low gross with 84, and Ray Blacklock won low net.

Beacon Ridge: The 18-Hole Ladies Golf Association played Feb. 17 in a low net contest in which players could choose the best nine of 18 for scoring. Sarah Abbott had 31, Joyce Loney , 32, and Sonja White, 35.

Whispering Woods: The Men's Golf Association played Feb. 13 in a contest using one net ball on the front nine holes and two on the back nine holes. The winners were Bill Woodruff, Ken Pomeroy, John Hamm and Tony Rodriquez, 80.

On Feb. 16, the game was individual scores in a modified Stableford tournament. The winners were Joe Haas, 41 points; Steve Luckhaus, 36; and Tony Rodriquez, 33.

Seven Lakes: The 18-Hole Women's Golf Association held a match play tournament Feb. 17 with the following winners: Jule Thornton, Donna McClung, Nancy Sabo, Marilyn Quintana, Lillian Schafer, Kathy Goodman, Mary Pagano and Grae Starwald.
