The new season of the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Program, locally sponsored by the Silver Foils, recently kicked off at The Pit golf course in Aberdeen.
This is the second year for the program, and several girls attended the meeting.
"We are so pleased to have a good turnout for our initial meeting" said Karen Plankar, Silver Foil girls' coach.
Golf enthusiasm is the only pre-requisite for this program, designed for girls 7 to 17. Registrants must pay a $10 fee and fill out some paperwork. The group meets at 3:30 p.m. Mondays at The Pit. Girls must arrange their own transportation, which is why you often see parents nestled with a favorite book in lounge chairs. The weekly session offers a chance to hone skills and learn from experienced amateurs and knowledgeable professionals. Each girl will work at her own level to gain confidence, playing ability and the interpersonal skills that encompass the dynamic game of golf.
