The Weymouth Music Committee announces that the annual Weymouth Young Musicians Festival will be held Saturday, March 21, and Sunday, March 22. Auditions will be held Saturday and the Finalists' Concert will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. Both events take place in the Great Room at Weymouth Center.

Festival judges are Dr. Joe Di Piazza, piano and Dr. Fabian Lopez, strings, from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The festival is open to students from Moore County and the surrounding counties of Lee, Montgomery, Richmond, Scotland and Hoke. Students in grades 4 through 12 who are currently studying an instrument or voice are eligible to participate.

The festival was the vision of Rose Ehrhardt, a member of the Weymouth Music Committee during the early 1980s. The purpose of the festival is to provide opportunities for young musicians to perform for adjudicators who provide critiques of their skills and musical ability in a place known for encouraging the development and flourishing of the arts and humanities.
