As part of the Lincoln's 200th Birthday Celebration at Sandhills Community College during the month of February, the Katharine L. Boyd Library will have on display hundreds of Lincoln materials and artifacts including portraits, statuaries, and memorabilia.

A portion of the portraiture covers a 30-foot wide display wall.

Unique items in the display are the floral wreath placed on Lincoln's body as it lay in state in Columbus, Ohio, and a top hat worn by abolitionist John Brown.

There are numerous paintings and busts of Lincoln, including the works of Civil War veteran George E. Bissell and Max Bachmann.

These items are on loan from the personal collections of George Hoffman, of Seven Lakes North, and Paul Brill, of Southern Pines.

A scale model of Lincoln's burial train, created by Charles Zuhone of Pinehurst, along with burial train materials are also on display.

"This is a very impressive display that you will not want to miss," said Dr. John Stacey, director of learning resources.

Sandhills Community College is located at 3395 Airport Road in Pinehurst.

The hours for the Boyd Library are: 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; and 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday. There is no charge to view the exhibits.
