Germann Bostic scored 36 points to lead the Sandhills Community College Flyers to a 73-67 road win over the Guilford College junior varsity squad Monday night.
The Flyers return to action Wednesday when they entertain Central Carolina at 8 p.m. at O'Neal.
Bostic was one of three Flyer players, along with Brian Thomas (10) and Phillip Moultrie (11) who scored in double figures. Bostic also added a team-high 12 rebounds.
Defensively the Flyers limited Guilford to just 35 percent shooting from the field.
"It was a team effort and I think winning a close game could serve us well as we look toward our region tournament," said SCC head coach Aaron Denton.
The Flyers trailed Guilford 33-31 at half, but were able to rally thanks to their defense. The Flyers allowed the Quakers to shoot just 33 percent (10 of 30) in the second half. The Flyers hit 48 percent of their shots in the second half, including five of 10 three-point attempts.
The Flyers play five more games in the regular season, before the Region X tournament on Feb. 27. Three of those are at home, including games against Carolina Prep (5 p.m., Feb. 15) and Caldwell Community College (8 p.m., Feb. 19).
Prior to tonight's game, Sandhills CC will host a pregame event to honor program supporters and former athletes and coaches with Sandhills athletics.
