Billy Gordon McKenzie, 86, of Pinehurst, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Community Presbyterian Church, Pinehurst.
He was born June 12, 1923, in Red Springs, to the late William Ivey and Maggie Farmer McKenzie. A retired locksmith and World War II veteran, he was a life member of Clan MacKenzie Society in the Americas, NRA (life member), VFW John Boyd Post 7318 (life member), Marine Corps League, Old Timers of Pinehurst, and was a Boy Scout leader for many years.
He is survived by two sons, Billy Donald McKenzie and wife, Debbie, of Pinehurst, and Franklin Church McKenzie and wife, Tess, of Cruso; two brothers, Tony McKenzie and Marty McKenzie, both of Pinehurst; a sister, Faye McKenzie Carter of Aberdeen; two grandchildren, Matthew McKenzie and wife, Fiona, and Jacob McKenzie; two great-grandchildren, Molly Rose McKenzie and Evan Jacob McKenzie. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Elizabeth Church McKenzie, brothers Jack, Gene and Fred McKenzie.
