Police Briefs: Four Charged in Undercover Operation

An undercover drug operation resulted in the arrest Wednesday of four suspects on charges of trafficking in controlled prescription pills.

Donald Thurston Stephens, Annie Jennett Stephens, Myrtle Katina Martin and Chace Hudson were arrested following an undercover operation conducted by officers from the Moore County Sheriff's Office narcotics unit, according to a press release.

The investigation took place in the Aberdeen, Southern Pines and Pinebluff areas. During the operation, officers purchased and seized 20 Oxycodone pills, 26 Lorcet pills, 23 Endocet pills and three grams of marijuana, according to the release. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $750.

Donald Stephens, 41, of 128 Keith Lane, Pinebluff, was charged with three counts of felony trafficking in opium, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule II controlled substance, felony sell a schedule II controlled substance, felony deliver a schedule II controlled substance, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony sell marijuana, felony deliver marijuana and felony maintaining a dwelling to keep controlled substance. He was jailed, and his bail set at $100,000.

Annie Stephens, 27, of the same address, was charged with three counts of felony trafficking in opium, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule III controlled substance, felony sell a schedule III controlled substance and felony deliver a schedule III controlled substance. She was jailed, and her bail set at $100,000.

Martin, 34, of 325 Southeast Service Road, Southern Pines, was charged with five counts of felony trafficking in opium, two counts of felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule II controlled substance, felony sell a schedule II controlled substance, felony deliver a schedule II controlled substance and felony maintaining a dwelling to keep controlled substance. She was released on an unsecured $50,000 bond.

Hudson, 22, of 175 Heflin Road, Aberdeen, was charged with three counts of felony trafficking in opium, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule III controlled substance, felony deliver a schedule III controlled substance, felony sell a schedule III controlled substance and felony conspiracy to sell or deliver a schedule III controlled substance.

He was released on an unsecured $50,000 bond.

Cocaine Charges: A search of an Aberdeen home Tuesday resulted in the seizure of nine grams of cocaine and the arrest of two people.

Anthony Jamel Pratt, 24, of 1565 W. New York Ave., Southern Pines, and Kimyata Shanice Fairley, 28, of 110 Pleasant St., Aberdeen, face numerous charges related to the search, according to a press release.

Officers of the Moore County Sheriff's Office narcotics unit and select enforcement unit executed a search warrant at 110 Pleasant St. in Aberdeen, according to the release. During the search, in addition to the cocaine, officers seized a firearm, $536 and items of drug paraphernalia, according to the release.

Pratt and Fairley are both charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, felony maintaining a dwelling to keep controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were placed in the Moore County Detention Center, with bail set at $100,000.

Prescription Pills: A Cameron woman was arrested Tuesday for allegedly obtaining prescription pills by fraud.

Cynthia Goins Conley, 36, of 600 Shaw Pond Road, faces a charge of obtaining controlled substance by fraud or forgery after officers with the Moore County Sheriff's Office narcotics unit conducted an investigation, according to a release.

Conley was arrested after the investigation into an individual attempting to obtain Percocet, a schedule II controlled substance, by forgery. She was placed in the Moore County Detention Center, with bail set at $5,000.

In a separate case, deputies arrested a Bennett woman Tuesday for allegedly obtaining controlled prescription pills by fraud.

Laura Raynor Winchester, 21, of 293 Carthage Road, has been charged with felony obtaining controlled substance by misrepresentation to a health-care provider, according to a press release.

Winchester was arrested after an investigation by officers with the Moore County Sheriff's Office narcotic unit revealed an individual obtaining Oxycodone, Hyrocodone and Alpralozam -- schedule II, III and IV controlled substances -- by misrepresentation to a health-care provider, according to the release.

She was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
