Patriots Sweep Red Devils in Hoops

The Pinecrest girls rode the powerful 1-2 punch of Candice Seagraves and Jenny Joy to a 64-30 victory in a basketball game played at Red Springs Tuesday evening.

Seagraves finished with a game-high 23 points in the opener of the girls-boys doubleheader. Joy scored 15 to go with seven assists, four rebounds and three steals. Ashleigh McKenzie added 13 points as the Pats improved to 4-3.

In the nightcap, the Patriot boys defeated the Red Devils 66-50 to remain undefeated with a record of 7-0. Daquan Towns put together a double-double for the Pats that included 25 points and 10 rebounds. Faronte Drakeford was the only other Patriot in double figures, scoring 13 points.

On Friday, the Pinecrest junior varsity and varsity girls travel to Cardinal Gibbons while the Patriot boys entertain the Crusader jayvee and varsity squads at James Moore Gym.
