"The public is invited to attend the Moore County Nursing-Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee's open meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the Senior Enrichment Center," says a spokesman.

The topic for the meeting is "Activity Programs in Long-Term Care Facilities."

Guest speakers will be Renate Douglas, activity director at Quail Haven Nursing Home, and Roger Brittingham, activity director at Elmcroft Assisted Living.

"Come join us to learn about activity programs for residents in long-term care," says the spokesman.

The Community Advisory Committee's purpose is to advocate for residents living in long-term care facilities. The committee members are local citizen volunteers who are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.

Committee members visit the local nursing homes/adult care homes at least once a quarter to apprise themselves of the general conditions under which residents are living to assure quality of care and quality of life for all residents of long-term care facilities.

Those interested in becoming a volunteer on the committee or who have questions regarding the care a loved one is receiving, should contact Barbara Venditti, chairman, at (910) 295-4081.
