Hagan's Schedule Elusive

In response to your editorial on Aug. 12 about Rep. Howard Coble and his lack of town hall meetings, I would like to share my experiences attempting to get Sen. Kay Hagan's town hall meeting schedule.

I have contacted her offices three times by phone (the first, two weeks before the August recess began, the last today) and twice by e-mail to learn of her health-care reform town hall meetings. The answer has consistently been "her schedule hasn't been determined keep checking back." I will, and I hope she comes up with a plan before she returns to Congress in September.

According to her staffer, she is in favor of a health insurance public option for all, but the staffer had no information about her plans to enroll herself or her family in such an option.

She is in favor of the big cap-and-trade bill before Congress, according to this same staffer, and voted for the Cash for Clunkers program.

Apparently, she delights in spending other people's money and the big government that results, but she doesn't want to listen to the folks she represents. Perhaps The Pilot has her schedule?
