Two Arrested for Selling Coke, Heroin

A three-month undercover drug operation resulted in the recent arrest of two Lee County residents on charges related to selling cocaine and heroin in the Cameron area.

Rommel Avellaneda Palacids, 35, and Mayra Aviles Sanchez, 33, both of Charlotte Ave., Sanford, were arrested by members of the Moore County Sheriff's Office narcotics unit after the unit seized 87 grams of powder cocaine and 10 grams of heroin during the undercover operation.

Both Palacids and Sanchez were charged with eight counts of trafficking in cocaine, two count of conspiring to traffic cocaine, four counts of trafficking Schedule I (heroin), two counts of possess with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, two counts of selling cocaine, two counts of delivering cocaine, one count of possession with intent to sell/deliver schedule I (heroin), sell schedule I (heroin), and deliver schedule I (heroin). Palacids bail was set at $50,000, while Sanchez was released from the Moore County jail under a $50,000 unsecured bond.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office assisted in the investigation.
