Singer-songwriter Cate Combs returned "home" and sang the title song of her new CD, "All Things Clear," at Grace Church in Southern Pines on a recent Sunday morning.
Combs, 25, lives in Tulsa, Okla. She took a break from writing, traveling, singing and recording to visit her mother, Babs Combs, of Pinehurst.
One of five children -- "I'm next to the baby," she says -- Combs attended Grace Church during her growing-up years. She finished Pinecrest High School in 2002 and graduated with a guitar performance degree in 2006 from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa.
She recently returned from a 6-week "churches and conferences singing tour" of Holland, Wales, England and Germany.
Combs prepared to record "All Things Clear" (her first CD) by writing 55 songs,
"I narrowed them down to 10 for the CD," she says. "I started writing in January and recorded one week in February and all of March. This music is about my personal pursuit of God -- to glorify Him in excellence."
