Three Arrested at Beauty Salon, Face Drug Charges

Three individuals were arrested Tuesday at a beauty salon on U.S. 1 South and almost 20 pounds of marijuana seized by law enforcement officials. The individuals face trafficking in marijuana charges.

Javier Enrique Velez, 36, and Domingo Antony Pena, 31, both of Kissimmee, Fla., and Sarah Pecunia Rae, 42, of 101 Roper Drive, Raeford, were arrested at Vogue Styles Family Hair Studio, as the result of an investigation conducted by officers with the Moore County Sheriff's Office narcotics and select enforcement units, United States Postal Inspection Service and the Raleigh Police Department, according to a press release.

Officers seized 19.6 pounds of marijuana, 30 Xanax pills and $1,039. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $87,900.

Velez was charged with two counts of felony trafficking in marijuana, two counts of felony conspiracy to traffic in marijuana, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule IV controlled substance and felony maintaining a place to keep controlled substance. He was jailed under a $500,000 bail.

Pena was charged with two counts of felony trafficking in marijuana, two counts of felony conspiracy to traffic in marijuana, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana and felony maintaining a place to keep controlled substance. He was jailed and his bail set at $500,000.

Rae was charged with felony trafficking in marijuana, felony conspiracy to traffic in marijuana, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana and felony maintaining a place to keep controlled substance. She was jailed and her bail set at $500,000.
