Sixty-four golf carts were destroyed when the building housing them at The Bluff Golf Links in Pinebluff burned down Monday night.
The fire was reported about 9:20 p.m., said Ken Skipper, Moore County fire marshal. When the first firefighters arrived, the building was fully engulfed in flames, he said. The cause of the fire is under investigation, Skipper said.
He described the structure as a block building with a tin roof, with two rolldown doors at each end. The building had no windows. All but one of the carts were electric.
The vinyl siding at the golf course's clubhouse received a little damage, Skipper said.
Pinebluff, Aberdeen, Crestline, Pinehurst, Southern Pines and Seven Lakes fire departments all responded to the call.
