James William "Bill" Hiser, 75, died Friday, April 24, 2009, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

No memorial service is planned. The body is donated to Duke University Medical Center for research.

Bill was a 1951 graduate of Petersburg High School and the Strayer College Class of 1953. He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of Petersburg Lodge No. 145 AF & AM. He was active in community and civic affairs. He was retired from Westinghouse.

He is survived by his wife, Elda; daughter, Karen and her husband, Mark Uebel, and a granddaughter, Jamie Rae. Also surviving are a brother, Harold, and sister-in-law, Eleanor, and many nieces and nephews, all in West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elton M. Hiser, and mother, Jessie Brill Hiser.
